With great aspiration and foresight, the DLIS has now extended its presence to the Bengaluru campus, beginning from the academic year 2026–27. This marks a significant milestone, offering Library Science students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an interdisciplinary ecosystem alongside peers from; Engineering Law Social Sciences, Management, Technology & Arts, Commerce Medicine.
The Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS) at Manipal Academy of Higher Education has been a pioneer in shaping the future of information professionals since its inception in 2011 with the launch of the BLISc (Bachelor of Library and Information Science) program. Rooted in the philosophy of turning libraries into “working laboratories”, the department has consistently emphasized hands-on learning, ensuring that students apply classroom concepts in real-world library environments.
