The World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2025 was held on April 25 to 27, 2025, in New Delhi, India. A Panel Discussion was held on ‘Health Literacy in the AI Era’. The event was organised by the Asian Health Literacy Association (AHLA).
Dr Usha Rani (HoD, Department of Healthcare and Hospital Management [DHHM], Prasanna School of Public Health [PSPH], Manipal Academy of Higher Education [MAHE], Manipal), being one of the resource persons for the event, spoke regarding the Topic "AI: A Powerful Tool for the Development of a Health Literate Society". She spoke on why health literacy matters, the Potential of AI to support health literacy development and better patient-doctor communication, a few initiatives and the vision forward for a health literate, healthy society.
Dr Maria Cristiane Barbosa Galvao (Visiting International Faculty, PSPH, MAHE, Manipal) being one of the resource persons for the event, spoke regarding the Topic "Bond-based Health Literacy and Artificial Intelligence". She spoke on the importance of a humane touch. Proposed a conceptual reconfiguration of health literacy, shifting it from a functional health approach, centred on the transmission of health information, to a bond-based approach, grounded in interaction, listening and human presence.
There were 4500 registered global participants in the conference. This session was a parallel panel discussion.
