The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, MCODS, Mangalore, organised a CPD program Maxfacts 2014 ‘Current Concepts & Challenges in Maxillofacial Infections’. The program was inaugurated by Dean, MCODS, Mangalore Dr. Dilip G. Nayak. The speakers were:

Professor Dr. Chakrapani M, Unit Head, Department of Medicine, KMC, Mangalore who presented ‘Antibiotics – The Double-edged Sword’.

Professor Dr. Ravi N. Vaswani, HOD of Medicine, Yenapoya Medical College, presented ‘Weak Defense- Strong Offence! Maxillofacial Infections in Immunocompromised patients’.

Finally, Dr. Krishnamurthy Bonanthaya, Professor, Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences & Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon, Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Bangalore, presented ‘Management Strategies- Concepts & Controversies in Maxillofacial Infections’.

The talks were well received and much appreciated by interns, postgraduate and faculty participants. The program had more than 180 participants from different institutions situated around Mangaluru and was awarded 3 credit points by the Karnataka State Dental Council. The program was followed by a sumptuous lunch.
